The Alter Ego - The changing face of man - Part 2

The pat was from an unknown person. Before I could speak a word, the guy said, I can make your brother face ready. But I would like some favour in return. I took him lightly, both my parents started pleading him. Please return Teja to normal we need him badly. Even Teja was hearing all this as he was conscious just then. Teja said to the guy, " Do what ever you want I want my face back". The guy said, " I cannot promise you your face but you would certainly get a good face".

So that's how my brother got this face, He is not the real one to have this face. That is the reason why he hasn't got any ID proofs to his name. And for the masked guy we too did not see the guy, the unknown person we were just talking about was the masked guy himself. We saw him in the mask too. Since we were too bothered of the face of our brother we did not try to look into the mask and know the guy and as of now we wanted our brother to totally recover from the accident hence we thought if people did not know of his identity, we will land in trouble and hence shifted him for some time to this Ameerpet mens hostel and I am taking care of the legal proceedings to confirm him to be the same Teja we know and re create his identity.

Getting back to Ravindra's Narration :

I was hearing all this, I cannot say I did not believe in what he was saying. But, I had my reservations, whether to believe in him or not is out of question now. I just wanted a way to meet the masked guy to come to a conclusion. So I asked him.....

Me : Where do I find the masked guy now.
Vivek : We don't have his particulars or adress.
Me  : Ok, Which hospital did u take Teja to...
Vivek : Remedy multi speciality hospital, KPHB.
Me : Thats where you met the masked guy last time right!
Vivek :yes.
Me : Ok, Thanks for the info. Can you name the doctor who treated Teja First at Remedy?
Vivek : Not too sure. But I hope the hospital staff to be helpful in this.

I was working my way out of the case. Wonderfully, I had the old man get to Remedy Hospital, when he was hit by the masked guy. So there was not a bit of confusion how I would be able to solve the case. I started analyzing all my strengths and weaknesses. In the next hour I got to the hospital asked the hospital staff regarding the plastic surgery department and got to meet with the doctor who treated Teja. He did not mention of any meeting with the masked guy. So I did not bother to ask him.

Since I am a cop i got to the security room directly and got to see the CCTV footage of the hospital. To my surprise the masked guy was entering the hospital and leaving everyday and no one took notice of him. After the attack on the old man he never surfaced again. I was watching closely at the current set of live feeds from all the CCTV's. Suddenly in one of the feeds I could see the masked guy. I asked the operator to zoom in and could now clearly see him entering the hospital. To my surprise he hit one of the access doors with an employee punch card and entered the room. I for once ran in  to the room  from which the feed was coming while i was entering the room there was a loud noise of gun shoot and when I entered the hospital room. The old man who I saved few days back was lying on the stretcher dead.

The masked guy to my surprise escaped from the crime scene. As I was the guardian of the old man I asked the hospital staff to arrange for a VIP room until the mystery of the case is unfolded. Only an employee from the hospital has access to this room with his punch card shown to an electronic access control system. Such was the security I ensured in this room. But still the masked man entered the room easily and killed the old fellow. He has an IQ of a genius I thought. If he were in police I would have respected him for my boss.

But still as a cop I need to solve the mystery before the masked guy plans for another murder. So I went ahead with the case. Again doing my routine check back at the security surveillance CCTV footage. I asked the operator to zoom on to the employee punch card, I could barely see the visual. Next I asked the operator to process the image and zoom onto the card and check for the name and ID of the employee. Yes, we got to some sort of conclusion. The name on the card read " Jeevan kumar" and then the processed image of the card being carried by the masked guy. We could now see it clearly, He has sharp eyes, Probably a +2 sight for both the eyes, Looked like a professional doctor. Then for an instant I was carried way that the man doesn't even look like a criminal, but, why is that he has to shoot that old man.

After rethinking the situation and analysing all the details. I asked all the hospital staff to be present before me. I checked everyone of their faces. None matches with the image. Then I showed the printed picture of the employee card which was being carried by the masked guy. All of a sudden they were discussing within themselves. One of the senior doctors came to me, he said that the guy was sacked some 6 months back and since then the dean of the hospital is found to be missing. They thought that the dean is dead and the guy who came to me to say about the punch card was actually made an acting dean until the return of the old dean.

I started inquiring about the missing dean. I was informed that he was found missing from the past 6 months. He was a bachelor and dedicated to the field of medicine. Good guy at heart and all praises for the dean. I asked the acting dean if I could have a photo of the old dean. He showed me one, and I was shocked again. This was the same picture that I collected from the belongings of the old man who was just killed. I thought there was no relevance of the old man having the photograph of him. If at all he was an acquaintance of him, I thought he would have come to the hospital to claim for the old man.

The case is getting too mysterious. I was landing no where with the multiple knots that were knit into this case.

To be Continued .....
