The Alter Ego - The changing face of man - Part05 (The connections)

The second half of the ID did not contain his photograph. I asked if the acting dean could help me get the photograph of Ramana. He was so cooperative that he asked the admin staff immediately to get me the photograph of Ramana. Then asked him if i could rather get a glance at the hospital employee records personally and find more connections if any regarding this case.

After a while I was taken to the admin department and was going through the official staff database of the hospital. I could barely find any people who might be connected to the case. Since the task was not fruitful I asked to complete the task as fast as they could and asked them to print the details of three people, The Dean, Jeevan the Plastic Surgeon and the mortuary attender Ramana.

First I was not taking the task seriously as i could not find any interesting information regarding the case. But when the prints are in my hand and as I glanced through them, I was shocked to see it. Ramana the attender at the mortuary has the same face that resembled Teja, who got his face transplanted after an accident. Thats the first connection I got in the case.

The connections till now,
The masked man is probably Jeevan as he appeared in the same mask and treated Teja. The masked man killed the mortuary attender Ramana and transplanted his face to Teja. Then the masked man killed his own father whom he attempted to kill previously but did not succeed as I just appeared at the place in my police jeep.

The connections that are still unclear,
What happened to the missing dean and why did Jeevan kill his own father. I was still in confusion and asked the hospital staff to get me the postmortem report of Jeevan's father. To my astonishment Jeevan's blood group in his profile did not match with that of father. When a postmortem happens they write with the report all physical resemblances on the body before starting the actual work. So, They described in detail the placing of moles on his body, an extra left hand thumb finger, a scar probably of an accident on the right arm and so on. When I was glancing through the details of the Deans employee profile before I had a look at the postmortem report, I got to see all these remarks, He underwent a surgery at the same hospital just few years ago following a road accident in which he lost all his family since then he did not enter the house which was in the backyard of the hospital and was living in his office only. I also looked at the photographs hanged in the Deans room to confirm that the attributes mentioned in the employee profile of the dean, Postmortem report of Jeevans father and the photographs match exactly or not. I took them to the database room which is the CCTV room and then examined all three closely and to my astonishment all three match exactly.

Now, The mystery is unfolding and as well as complicating itself. I know most of the facts but there is no way I can confirm the facts until I reach Jeevan. Jeevan has efficiently managed for most part of the case to hide every detail of his in this case. First he ripped of the skin from dead body without foreseeing the grief of its parents, Later when he got dismissed for the act he probably wanted his revenge over the dean and started planning his attack on the dean. While there are some unclear threads such as why did he kill the attender at the mortuary, why did he transplant his face to Teja. These can only be known when I get to meet Jeevan. Jeevan the mask man has to come in open to reveal the facts.

The Alter Ego - The changing face of man Part 4

Next what I did was, Since I am unable to trace out this case. I thought I would rather simultaneously pick up another case also. The case of the missing dean, If he is found, I can at least know the character traits and the circumstances that led to dismissing Jeevan.

In the hope, I went and met the acting dean, This time since I was more familiar a figure, I was offered a chair, Tea as I entered the room. The acting dean was not a old one. If one were to see that there is a difference of this many years between the actual dean and the acting dean, Even this acting dean would also have been a suspect in the case of the missing dean.

We started our conversation. I inquired the acting dean about the case. I wanted to check the belongings of the dean room and about his family and where did he live and all that.

The Acting dean now started the story :

The Dean was a bachelor and he hasn't got a family. He used to live a simple life dedicated to work all the time. 3 weeks back he suspended Dr.Jeevan otherwise Dr.Jeevan should be the acting dean in his place. He has got a house just to sleep during odd hours just behind the hospital. But the dean used to spend almost all the day in the hospital. So, most of his belongings, clothes etc., can be found in the hospital itself. He showed me the way to that room. I entered it it was simple as for the man. But different from an usual corporate hospital dean's room. It has a closet full of clothes a glass rack which contained glass tumblers, porcelain utensils, a long glass jar to fill water in, A water purifier, a microwave.
The dean has split the room into two one side being his office and the other being a dormitory for self where he would not need to go out for anything. He can cook, sleep on a comfortable couch, read books from the bookshelf, make notes of the case at the office desk. Can access internet from his laptop, play the odd little game near the adjacent garden that has a badminton court in it. So, I was going through every little detail that I could find in this room. I looked around in the room for any traces of material by which I could get a clue of why the dean went missing. There is another place in the room that points to the actual house of the dean through the window. I went to the window at the far end of the room. This time I found something amusing. There was stinking smell all around and a dog was found carrying a bloody flesh in its mouth. I ran to the acting deans office and asked him about it. But he too was unaware of it. Only the deans room has the access to backyard of the hospital other than the mortuary. The mortuary has a back door from where the dead bodies will be brought in without affecting the normal public. I along with the acting dean went to the mortuary entered through the back door and went in the direction from which the stinking smell was coming. As we approached closer we could see the dead body of a man torn into to pieces probably by the dogs and other animals near by. We went further closer to the body, the body was totally decomposed and we could barely see the face, but to our luck an Id that was cut to half is found just beside the body. The name on the card read Ramana. The acting dean reported that he is the attender at the mortuary.

The case is getting too complicated now. There are a total of 4 cases to be solved involving Jeevan dismissal from the hospital, Missing of the dean, Murder of Jeevan's father by Jeevan himself, and now the latest entry death of Ramana, the attender at the mortuary.
